Bio
Cinthya Chalifoux is an artist, style curator, and bespoke maker. Fifteen years in the high-end made-to-measure design and meticulous handcraft making have taught her how to listen to the need, the medium, and the goal to create a narrative. Often blurring the lines between art, garment making, and sculpture, this passion for Métiers d’arts ultimately led the artist to pursue a Fine Arts career.
“Passionate about history, arts, and traditional craft, I reference the past to reshape the future. I believe that the magic of great work comes from a blend of deep research, instincts, symbolism, traditions, and innovation..”
Oriented in handcraft practices for years, she learned the meticulous art of bespoke for men and women alongside fifth-generation tailor Rory Duffy (2015) and at AFT in France (2016). From 2015 to 2018, she also learned haute couture embroideries’ art (Lunéville, needlework, and goldwork embroidery). The artist is also familiar with leatherwork practices (2016), floristry (2014), and undergarment making (2015). Mastering traditional practices come with a sense of responsibility towards the craft: passing her passion on to the next generation of crafters and artists has always been important. Now an experienced mentor, she has given several classes, workshops, and bespoke-making tutorials. Her peers recognize Chalifoux as a Métiers d’Art Artisan (2015).
In 2020, the artist enrolled in Concordia University Fine Arts Department to complete a BFA. Majoring in the Fibres Department, Chalifoux devotes her time developing her practice within the institutional frame. Her work can be seen and acquired at Jano Lapin Gallery, in Montreal (Verdun borough).
